Louisiana Forestry Foundation
The Louisiana Forestry Foundation, founded in 1967, has given more than $1,018,200 in scholarships to students majoring in forestry at Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University and, adding in 2018, Southern University and A&M College – the three accredited forestry schools in the state – and Central Louisiana Technical & Community College - Huey P. Long Campus in Winnfield and the SOWELA Technical Community College - Oakdale Campus, for students enrolled in its forestry technician program.
The Foundation is also supportive of the Southern Forest Heritage Museum and other forestry-related endeavors.
The Louisiana Forestry Foundation is a non-profit corporation and gifts of cash, land and other assets are fully deductible in accordance with IRS Guidelines for a 501(C) 3 corporation. Only the earnings from investments are used so that established scholarships are held in perpetuity.
Over its more than half-century history of the Louisiana Forestry Foundation, hundreds of students have gone on to take their place in today’s wide-ranging jobs in forestry.
Named scholarships are bestowed in honor of a person or business. Memorials are often given in the name of a loved one.
The three universities and two technical-community colleges accept applications each spring on behalf of the Foundation for the following year. Student recipients must continue to major in forestry and maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.75.
Those interested in making a donation to the Foundation should call (318) 443-2558. Legal counsel is available through the Foundation.
