Week salutes renewable industry

The Louisiana Forestry Association, with the LSU AgCenter and Rapides Parish school system recently completed the fall Forest Awareness Week with the help of several organizations and many volunteers. It is a week during which people in the Forest Products industry teach fifth-graders the importance of the forest.

It is something all of us in the forest community hope will have a lasting impression on these youngsters about how important this renewable resource is to Louisiana and across the world.

This week, Oct. 20 – 26, is Forest Products Week, when folks in our industry recognize the importance of managing a sustainable, renewable resource for generations to come.

From paper products to homes to even some ingredients for some of our favorite foods, Forest Products are important to all of us.

So to the more than 50,000 people who work in the Forest Products industry in Louisiana, to the landowners who farm trees to the loggers who harvest them and the mills that use those resources that make our lives better, we salute you and thank you during this Forest Products Week!
