LLC and LFA sign alliance with OSHA

Roderic Chube, left, area director of OSHA, and LFA and LLC Executive Director Buck Vandersteen sign an Alliance between the organizations.

The Louisiana Logging Council (LLC) and Louisiana Forestry Association (LFA) has renewed an alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Alliance is to help improve safety in logging jobs, which includes courtesy training and inspections to give companies opportunities to avoid penalties if and OSHA inspector shows up on job sites unannounced.

"When OSHA finds out that the logger is a member of the Alliance, it’s a game changer at that point," OSHA said in a written statement. "OSHA assists the logger in adjusting their operations to provide a safer work environment without getting a ticket. This helps Loggers save money by being in compliance."

The Alliance also includes OSHA give presentations to the Master Core Training Classes to explain to new Master Loggers how OSHA works with their companies through the LLC and LFA.
