Webinar to focus on timber damage
The Louisiana Forestry Association is presenting a free webinar at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 about tax information for landowners following the damages of Hurricane Laura.
The presenter of the webinar is Paul Spillers, a tax attorney and estate specialist who also is an LFA past president.
Spillers is often featured at LSU AgCenter Forestry Forums across the state about tax issues for timberland. Some of the things Spillers will talk about include:
•Casualty Loss, what is it and how is it defined in the tax law?
•Timber Tax Basis, why is knowing this important?
•Single Identifiable property, what is that?
•Deductible Casualty Loss, how is this calculated?
Foresters can earn 1 Cat 1 CFE credit and Master Loggers can earn 2 CLE credits.
