Burn bans issued by 25 parishes ... so far

Extended dry weather and high temperatures have led to 25 parishes in Louisiana to issue burn bans.
According to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry website, all 25 parishes are listed as High or Very High levels for fire danger. Parishes that have so far issued burn bans as of Friday, Aug. 21 are:
Acadia
Allen
Beauregard
Bossier
Caddo
Calcasieu
Caldwell
Catahoula
DeSoto
East Feliciana
Franklin
Jefferson Davis
Lincoln
Morehouse
Natchitoches
Sabine
St. Helena
Tangipahoa
Tensas
Union
Vernon
Washington
Webster
West Carroll
Winn
Fire Danger is determined by the probability of a fire to start and the rate of its spread and intensity. When burn bans are issued, local and state government shave assessed the risk and believe it is high enough to prohibit open fires. To report a fire, contact your local fire department.
